Author: Sharon Francis
Apart from being on punctual, being smartly dressed for an interview, and that includes your shoes, is of utmost importance, regardless of the type of job one is being interviewed forso don't forget about your footwear as they may be the most visible item of your interview outfit! It is vital one comes across as smart and well groomed. This indicates to the interviewer that you are serious about the job in hand and you will have the self confidence to follow through.
Here are a few hints as to what shoes are deemed suitable for an interview... and the shoes should definitely be avoided.
There a much wider choice in shoe style for women than for men on the market, however that choice is narrowed down significantly when it comes to choosing that right shoe for an interview. Ladies and Gentlemen, when choosing a shoe, make sure the following points are taken into account:
- For Women-
- Make sure that the heel is a 'manageable' height as wobbling into a room on heels that are too high will definitely not give the right impression to your potential future employer. Choose a low heel and above all comfortable shoe or a traditional black classic leather ballet style pump, which may be more suitable for a taller individual. Interviews often take place over a whole day so donning a shoe that is not comfortable will take your mind off the task at hand.
- A solid colour is chosen, preferably black, navy or brown, and the colour of the shoe should match any accessories that are worn.
- Choose leather court shoes, preferably with a closed toe, with a traditional classic look. Black leather sling back style shoes may add a bit more variety and class to the outfit but make sure they are not too overzealous. Do however choose a shoe that is current with the fashion trends where possible.
